Working remotely on a part-time basis, Wenxuan demonstrated excellent communication skills and a good work ethic as they successfully balanced their internship and studies. They consistently checked in for feedback and implemented requested changes quickly when finalising collateral.

Wenxuan created multiple posters using a distinctive illustrative style that our staff loved, bringing in their talent whilst still basing their designs within WRT’s existing brand guidelines. They also developed the poster design into different formats for our social media channels, creating Instagram posts, Facebook banners and dynamic stories that were used to advertise upcoming events such as our annual Great Big Rescued Food Cook-Off and Septic Tank Care workshop. These were shared digitally across WRT’s digital platforms to our 1,800 followers, with printed posters proudly displayed at the Waiheke Sustainability Centre as well as other venues such as the Community Library.

Wenxuan’s designs will be used to showcase and connect people to WRT’s mahi in the future as well, as they designed volunteer call out post templates for multiple projects and the Kai Conscious Café will be promoted through their poster each week. More significantly, Wenxuan refined our Nourish “ecosystem” and created another beautiful ecosystem that visually represents all the elements of the services that WRT offers to the community in a way that also demonstrates how our environment is impacted by our activities. These ecosystems will be seen by thousands of people as they will feature on our website and be used to promote our work on WRT’s other digital platforms. The services ecosystem in particular is a great showcase of how Wenxuan integrated the WRT colour palette and drew inspiration from brand icons and photos of WRT’s activities to create an aesthetically pleasing and detailed illustration.

During their internship, Wenxuan has had the opportunity to gain practical insight into WRT's project work and experience the designing process with real-world projects that support and are supported by the community. Wenxuan successfully produced a high calibre of work that demonstrated their ability to adapt to stakeholders’ needs as a graphic designer.
